Central Valley Pediatrics respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Patient Messaging Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information in connection with our patient text messaging services.

This policy applies specifically to our patient messaging program and is separate from, but complementary to, our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices and any applicable website privacy policy. This policy does not replace or modify those notices or policies.

By providing your phone number and opting in to receive text messages from Central Valley Pediatrics, you acknowledge this policy.

Information We Collect

For purposes of operating our messaging program, we may collect and store:

  • Your name
  • Your mobile phone number
  • The content of messages exchanged with Central Valley Pediatrics
  • Engagement information, such as message responses, delivery status, delivery failures, and date/time stamps
  • Opt-in and opt-out records, including the date, time, and method of consent

How We Use Your Information

We use contact information and related messaging data to provide accurate and timely communications related to your child’s care and our services. This may include:

  • Sending appointment reminders and scheduling updates
  • Sending annual well-child examination and preventive-care reminders
  • Sending immunization reminders

When you respond to a message, the content of your response may be used to determine the appropriate next action, including processing supported keywords such as STOP, START, HELP, or confirmations.

Your information is used for communication between Central Valley Pediatrics and you as a patient, parent, legal guardian, or authorized representative. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information.

Mobile information and SMS opt-in consent information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Information may be processed by service providers that support our messaging program, as necessary to deliver messages and operate the service, subject to applicable privacy and security requirements.

First-Time Enrollment and Opt-In Consent

By providing your mobile phone number during patient registration, through our website, or through another available enrollment method, you may opt in to receive text messages concerning healthcare, appointments, and related practice communications. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of receiving care.

Opt-Out Instructions

You may opt out of the patient messaging program at any time by replying STOP to the number from which you received our message. After receiving an opt-out request, you will receive a final confirmation message with instructions for opting back in if the request was made in error.

Opting out removes you from automated text messaging, including appointment reminders. Opting out of text messages does not affect the medical care you receive from Central Valley Pediatrics.

Opting Back In

If you opted out in error or would like to resume receiving messages, you may opt back in by replying START from the phone number that previously opted out.

Data Protection

Central Valley Pediatrics takes the security of personal information seriously and uses appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards intended to protect information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy or as required by applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When changes are made, the updated policy will be posted with a revised effective date.
